The Taliban reported that around 2,000 of all ages, sadly lost their in the earthquake in heart province which is in western Afghanistan the epicentre of this earthquake was about 40 kilometres northwest of heart. According to a United Nations report the hardest hit area was the “Jenda Jan” district where 12,94 people lost their lives and 16,88 people were injured this means a lost of [people in that district were affected by the earthquake almost every house in the area has ben damage which is a significant and devastating impact.

Earthquakes are common in Afghanistan, where there are a number of fault lines and frequent movement among three nearby tectonic plates.

In the Afghanistan earthquake a very large portion of the people who died were women and children according to “Siding Ibrahim” who works with UNICEF this happened because when the earthquake happened many women and children were inside their homes when the earthquake hit in the morning the strong shaking made people think there might have been an explosion like a bomb some where this is a common fear in Afghanistan due to past experiences.

Because of this fear even those who were outside rushed back into their homes unfortunately many houses couldn’t withstand the earthquake’s power and collapsed this resulted in many people getting struck or trapped under the fallen rubble, which made it difficult for them to escape and led to a high number of casualties.

when we look at the past we can see that Afghanistan has experienced many earthquakes this is because Afghanistan is in an area where there is a high risk of earthquakes there are a lot of fault lines and movements in three Earth’s tectonic plates in the this region and that’s what causes earthquakes to happen frequently.
