India is currently reviewing the security situation in Canada, which led to the suspension of visa services. Until now, India refuses Canada’s claim that this action violated the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

Disruption between India and Canada relationship began when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau suggested a potential link between Indian agents and the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia.

Canada’s Foreign Minister, Melanie Joly, criticized India’s actions, labeling them as “contrary to international law” and “unreasonable and escalatory.” In response, India’s Ministry of External Affairs explained that the increased number of Canadian diplomats in India and their continuous interference justified India’s call for diplomatic parity between New Delhi and Ottawa.
