“Indian Evacuation Efforts Continue as More Citizens Return Amid Israel-Hamas Conflict”

In the midst of the Israel-Hamas conflict, the initial group of 212 Indian citizens was airlifted and reached India on October 13. Following this, the second group, comprising 235 Indian nationals, including two infants, successfully departed from Israel for India on Friday, just a day after the first batch of 212 Indians left amidst the ongoing conflict with the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

Under the framework of ‘Operation Ajay,’ the third flight, transporting 197 Indian citizens from Israel, landed in the national capital, as announced by Arindam Bagchi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, on October 15. In addition, a fourth flight, carrying 274 passengers, has departed from Israel on its way to India.

Amid ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict ,a critical chapter unfolded today as the first charter flight touched down at Delhi airport . This marked a significant moment in the evacuation efforts under “Operation Ajay.” On Friday morning, the operation commenced with the first batch of Indian citizens returning from the conflict-stricken area in Israel, bringing back 212 individuals. Among the passengers were 211 adults and an infant, all of whom had been eagerly awaited.

“At the airport, the scene was both stirring and heartwarming. As they arrived in India from Israel, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekar extended a warm welcome to the returnees.”

Travelers who came back from Israel conveyed their appreciation to the Indian government for aiding their repatriation during the crisis. They commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed their relief at returning to India. The passengers were chosen on a “first-come, first-served” basis, and the government covered their repatriation expenses. The flight was organized in response to the suspension of Air India’s services during the conflict. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar officially initiated “Operation Ajay” to repatriate 212 citizens to New Delhi.

 As India has initiated Operation Ajay to bring its citizens back from Israel amid rapid increase violence. The first group is expected to return on a special flight tomorrow. External affairs minister S. Jaishankar announced the operation after setting up a 24-hour control room to assist Indian citizens and monitor the situation in Israel and Palestine.

“Launching #OperationAjay to facilitate the return from Israel of our citizens who wish to return. Special charter flights and other arrangements being put in place,” Jaishankar said in a post on X.

“We are fully committed to the safety of our citizens abroad,” External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar draw attention to it. The Indian embassy in Israel has reached out to the first batch of registered Indian citizens via email for a special flight on Thursday, with more messages to follow for future flights.

Until now Thankfully, there have been no reports of injuries among the 18,000 Indian citizens in Israel, including caregivers, diamond traders, IT professionals, and approximately 900 students.

Growing concerns about security arise as citizens from neighboring countries like Nepal and Sri Lanka have tragically lost their lives amid the ongoing violence. This highlights the increasing importance of ensuring the safety of all foreign nationals in the region.
