Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde addressed a large crowd during Shiv Sena’s Dussehra rally, highlighting the pain and sorrow of the Maratha community. He mentioned that a corrected petition has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the Maratha quota issue. Shinde assured that a quota for the Maratha community, without affecting others, will be provided permanently. He also requested young individuals not to take extreme measures, focusing on the importance of family and children’s well-being.
The Maratha reservation issue gained prominence after a Maratha quota activist, Sunil Kawale, tragically took his own life, leaving a suicide note seeking quota for the community. The government is actively working to address this long-standing concern, as a committee under retired judge Sandeep Shinde studies old records in Marathwada for granting Kunbi OBC certificates to Maratha community members. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reiterated the government’s commitment to providing reservations for the Maratha community.
