The Israeli military has conducted short forays into Gaza strip as part of organizing for a potential substantial land based operation. In their subsequent intrusion Israeli troops clashed with Hamas fighters and targeted anti-tank weaponry.
Meanwhile, Arab leaders collectively called for a ceasefire to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. Israel has sustained a tight blockade on the area including cutting off the supply of water, electricity and essential goods since Hamas conducted a major aerial attack and engaged in cross border activities followed by hostage taking incident. The European Union has also supported the establishment of “humanitarian corridors an pauses” in the ongoing conflict.
The Palestinian ambassador to the UN is pressing for a stoppage of the bombings to ensure the safety of lives, but Israel is reaffirming its dedication to eradicating Hamas. Israel has sustained significant harm during Hamas cross border attacks with 1,400 lives lost and over 200 people taken hostages. As per the Palestine health authorities more than 7,000 peoples in Gaza have been killed since the conflict started.
