India continued their sensational run in Cricket World Cup 2023 as they stretched their winning streak to seven by beating Sri Lanka by 302 runs at the Wankhede Stadium. 

India obtained top spot on point table after current win against Sri Lanka.

In a awesome show of today match, Team India made history by achieving the largest victory by runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs) as they defeated Sri Lanka by a unremarkable 302 runs held at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. This understated win shattered New Zealand’s previous record (by 290 runs) and lead a new chapter in the records of ODI cricket.

The  India’s remarkable victory was laid by their impressive batting performance. Opting to bat first, India made a total of 357/8 in fifty overs. Leading the charge was the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, who smashed an unbeaten 88 off 94 balls.

Young Indian opener Shubman Gill also played a major role in India’s batting charge. Gill showcased his excellent talent and potential as he made a brilliant 92 off just 92 deliveries. His partnership with Kohli, which bring in 180 runs, set the stage for India’s massive total. Additionally Mohammad Shami  is the player of the match for his amazing five wicket gain and he became India’s first wicket-taker in ODI World Cup history during the India vs Sri Lanka match at the 2023 World Cup match in Mumbai whereas Siraj took 3 wicket.

The Sri Lanka run-chase, in clear difference to India’s batting performance, ended in a mere 19.4 overs. This huge- 302 run victory margin was not only a testimony to India’s batting ability but also showcased their bowlers’ continuous determination to pull apart the opposition.
