The Indian National Congress (INC) announced its list of candidates for the upcoming Telangana Assembly Elections 2023 on the first day of Navratri. It appears to have some ambitious promises in their manifesto for the upcoming Telangana Assembly Elections 2023. One of the key highlights includes the provision of 10 grams of gold, along with a cash amount of Rs 1 lakh, to eligible women at the time of their marriage. This initiative is in addition to the ‘Mahalakshmi’ guarantee, which aims to provide Rs 2,500 per month financial assistance to women, as well as other benefits such as subsidized LPG cylinders and free bus travel for women on TSRTC buses across the state.
Furthermore, the Congress manifesto is likely to include a provision for free internet services for students. The committee is planning to discuss the modalities with internet service providers, suggesting a commitment to enhancing digital access for educational purposes.
In response to these proposed initiatives, a spokesperson for the ruling BRS government, K Chandrashekar Rao, has emphasized the government’s track record of implementing innovative policies for the welfare of the poor and marginalized communities. The BRS government, under the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak Schemes, currently provides financial assistance to eligible brides at the time of their marriage. Additionally, the BRS president, KCR, recently announced the party’s manifesto promises, including a subsidized LPG cylinder price and an increase in social pensions.
