British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s recent visit to Israel has underlined the United Kingdom’s strong support for Israel’s right to defend itself in the ongoing conflict with Hamas. Sunak’s visit comes in the wake of a similar visit by U.S. President Joe Biden, as world leaders join efforts to prevent the situation from escalating further.

During his two-day visit to the Middle East, Sunak expressed his unwavering support for Israel’s actions, highlighting their efforts to minimize harm to civilians in contrast to Hamas. He also acknowledged the suffering of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and praised Israel for opening areas for humanitarian aid.

The conflict, which began with a deadly attack by Hamas on October 7, has claimed numerous lives and stirred anger across the Middle East. Israel’s response has led to significant casualties and the displacement of over one million people.

Sunak’s visit not only signifies unity with Israel but also demonstrates Western unity in the face of this crisis. He pledged that the United Kingdom would stand by Israel during its “darkest hour” and commended Israel’s decision to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.

“In a joint conference with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Sunak reiterated his support, stating, ‘We stand with you in solidarity, with your people, and we also want you to win.'”

As leaders from Europe and the United States take steps to address the situation, the International community is working together to reduce the impact of the conflict and prevent it from spreading further throughout the region, several Western countries are supporting Israel including France, Germany, Norway, Australia, Austria, the United States, United Kingdom.
