The air quality in Delhi is forecasted to deteriorate and reach the “very poor” category on October 23 and 24 due to unfavorable weather conditions.
Consequently, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has triggered Stage 2 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). This includes directives such as increasing parking fees to discourage private vehicle usage and improving the availability of CNG and electric public transportation options.
Already in effect, Stage 1 measures involve halting private construction and prohibiting the use of coal and firewood in certain businesses. Stage 3 and Stage 4 comprise stricter regulations on vehicles and construction, allowing state governments to implement remote work and online education.
Authorities emphasize the urgent and comprehensive implementation of these protocols to address the escalating air pollution.
