A festive celebration in the Gopalganj district of Bihar turned into a heartwrenching incident on Durga Navami, due to a rush in puja pandal claiming the lives of a five-year-old boy and two women. The incident occurred on a late Monday evening in the Raja Dal locality of the town during the prosperous festival of Durga Puja, which had attracted large crowds to participate in the festivities.
According to Gopalganj District Magistrate Nawal Kishor Choudhary, the tragedy take place when the young boy fell in between the crowd during celebrations. In an attempt to save the child, two women also fell and were unable to get back up, leading to their tragic deaths. Despite the hospital being a mere 200 meters away, their injuries proved fatal.
Superintendent of Police Swarna Prabhat explained that the incident occurred as devotees lined up to receive “prasad.” The child’s fall and the later disturbance left 13 women and the child injured. They were rushed to Sadar Hospital, but sadly, the boy and the two elderly women dead on there way. Fortunately, the remaining injured individuals were reported to be out of danger.
In response to the tragedy, the area around the incident site was sealed off to maintain control of the situation. This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of crowd management and safety measures during festive gatherings. The community is left in mourning as they struggle with this unexpected turn of events during joyous celebration of Durga Puja.
