“Secretary Blinken’s Assurance to Netanyahu: ‘We Are Here to Stay”

On Thursday, October 12, 2023, United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken start on a diplomatic mission of prime important  significance as he touched down in the vibrant city of Tel Aviv, nestled within the heart of the Middle East. Antony Blinken promised that the US President Joe Biden administration and Congress would work together to meet military requests from Israel as they have promised.

Antony Blinken landed in Israel at around 10:30 AM local time. He was welcomed at the airport by Israel’s Foreign Minister Eli Cohen and other officials. Blinken didn’t make any public statements there. His visit followed a promise from US leaders to support Israel no matter what. The US had sent a naval group near Israel and increased its weapon supply to the country.

In the midst of escalating tensions and the growing likelihood of a ground invasion in Gaza, US President Joe Biden has engaged in four conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The situation in the region had become increasingly dire, prompting Israel to mobilize over 300,000 military reservists for active duty.

Interestingly, reports from local press indicated that President Biden had not actively discouraged or dissuaded Tel Aviv from considering a full-scale invasion, as it appeared to be providing hint  support for Israel’s potential military actions in the Gaza Strip. The developments in these discussions between the US and Israel underscored the complexity of the situation and the various geopolitical considerations at play.

Amid the growing chance of a ground seizure in Gaza, US President Joe Biden has had four phone conversations with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Israel has also called up over 300,000 military reservists to be on active duty. Interestingly, according to local reports, it seems that President Biden has not made any strong efforts to discourage Israel from considering a full-scale seizure in Gaza. This stance raised questions and concerns about the United States’ approach to the unfolding crisis in the Middle East.

On Friday, October 13, 2023, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is scheduled to meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Amman. This meeting is significant in addressing diplomatic and regional issues, underscoring the United States’ commitment to facilitating dialogue and cooperation in the Middle East.
