The government is planning to create a special ID card for all student in the country kind of like Aadhaar card for everyone this card will have a unique card for each student it’s called the ‘One Nation One Student Card’ it will make it easier to identify and keep track of student across the country.
The school education department has sent a letter to the Education Commissioner. This letter mentions a previous letter from the Union Ministry of Education dated October 11 which was sent to all the chief secretaries. The letter is about creating an “APAAR ID” for students. This ID is meant to uniquely identify and track students.
Parents will be asked for permission to create this ID. It’s a part of the new education policy from 2020. The Union Ministry of Education wants to make a single ID for every student from when they start school to when they finish higher education. This ID is called APAAR which stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry. It helps keep track of a student’s academic progress throughout their education.
The Union Ministry of Education wants all states and Union Territories to start making ‘APAAR’ IDs for students in schools. The President of AICTE, TG Sitharaman, says that APAAR and the National Credit Framework will be like a new QR code for students all over the country. It will keep a record of all the skills that students learn.
The state school education department has told schools to have a meeting with parents and teachers from October 16 to 18 to talk about making these APAAR IDs The information from the Aadhaar ID will also be used for the APAAR ID This means that the details from Aadhaar will be used to create the APAAR ID.
To make these APAAR IDs for students, the government needs permission from the parents. The government promises that all the student information will be kept private and shared only when needed by government agencies. If parents have any concerns they can change their mind and take back their permission at any time.
