“Holding Corporations Accountable: Hindustan Petroleum and Tata Power”
'Environmental Commitment Redefined: Hindustan Petroleum and Tata Power'
The Mumbai Municipal Corporation has introduced rules to make Mumbai’s air cleaner. They want to reduce pollution in the city. Some simple ways they might do this include asking people to use cleaner fuels for vehicles encouraging public transportation and controlling emissions from factories. These guidelines aim to improve the air quality and make Mumbai a healthier place to live.
The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) is getting serious about the worsening air quality in Mumbai. On October 27, they sent a notice to fuel manufacturing industries in Mahul for not following the rules about protecting the environment. This means those companies were doing things that could harm the environment and the MPCB is taking action to make them follow the proper rules to prevent pollution and protect the air quality in Mumbai.
The Mumbai Municipal Corporation introduced rules to reduce pollution in Mumbai. the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has made regulations for controlling air pollution in other cities and rural areas of the state, apart from Mumbai. They’ve told local government officials like Municipal Commissioners Collectors Police Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to follow these rules. This is to ensure that air quality is better not just in Mumbai but all over the state to protect people’s health and the environment.
The Principal Secretary of the Department of Environment and Climate Change has said that the guidelines should be put into action right away. they want people to start following these rules immediately without any delay to address environmental and climate concerns promptly.
In this set of rules the regulations for construction in the city will be the same as those in Mumbai. Instead of burning wood bakery businesses and crematories should use electricity for their operations. Cities are told to set up more air quality monitoring stations using their own resources. The rules also emphasize the need to educate the public about these guidelines to increase awareness about air quality and pollution control.
Following these rules is a must! If a construction project is taller than 50 meters in the Mumbai Municipal area, they need to put up metal sheets at least 25 feet high around it. If the construction is in a big city (a mega city) and the project is larger than 1 acre the same 25 feet high metal sheets are needed. For smaller construction sites in big cities they still need to have metal sheets at least 20 feet high around the project. These rules are put in place to ensure safety and proper construction practices.
