Dehradun rain closures: roads, schools, rivers and emergency contacts

DEHRADUN, September 1 — A district-wide school closure, blocked rural roads and precautionary evacuations remained the main public-service consequences of heavy rain in Dehradun as of late Monday and early Tuesday. Conditions can change quickly, so this report separates dated observations from routes that are officially confirmed open.

Schools and Anganwadi centres

The district administration ordered a one-day closure on September 1 for all government, government-aided and private schools teaching Classes 1 to 12, as well as all Anganwadi centres. The order followed the India Meteorological Department forecast and the orange-alert conditions described by the administration. It is a September 1 order, not an automatic closure for later dates.

Road and neighbourhood disruption

Six rural roads were reported blocked as of Monday evening. A section at Sodasaroli on Thano Road beyond Raipur had been washed out, according to a district disruption report. Travellers should obtain a fresh traffic or public-works update before using any route named in an earlier bulletin.

Authorities also reported evacuations at Dayanagar and near Pani Wala Bend on the Mussoorie–Dehradun road because of water flow or landslide risk. Two huts were washed away along the Swarna River in the Selaqui area, while the Noon River damaged a house wall. These reports identify local hazards; they do not mean every road in Dehradun or Mussoorie is closed.

River observations

Late Monday reporting placed the Tons River at 644 metres, above its stated warning level, while the Yamuna near Dakpathar was recorded around 454 metres and just below its reported warning threshold. River-gauge values are time-sensitive. Readers should not use an overnight figure to decide whether a crossing or riverbank is safe hours later.
