"Heartbreaking Accident in Buldhana Prompts Calls for Road Safety Review"

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, October 15: A devastating accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday on the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway near Vaijapur, resulting in the tragic loss of 12 lives and leaving 23 others injured. The incident unfolded at approximately 1:15 a.m. when a speeding truck collided with a stationary passenger bus that was en route from Buldhana to Nashik via Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) following a pilgrimage.

As per official reports, the bus had come to a halt on the side of the highway when the truck crashed into it from behind. The victims, which included two minor children, were returning to Nashik after paying a visit to the renowned Sailani Baba Dargah in Buldhana. According to reports from the police via PTI, at least 12 individuals lost their lives, while 23 others sustained injuries in this terrible collision. The incident became known when a mini-bus, carrying 35 passengers, tragically collided with the container truck. Among the injured, eight were women. Promptly, the injured passengers were transported to hospitals in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nashik, and Pune for immediate medical attention.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his condolences on X regarding the tragic bus accident in Buldhana, Maharashtra. The official X account of the Prime Minister’s Office in India posted this message: “I am deeply saddened by the terrible bus accident in Buldhana, Maharashtra. My heartfelt sympathies are with the families of those who lost their lives. I wish a quick recovery for the injured. Local authorities are doing everything they can to help those affected. The Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will provide Rs. 2 lakh to the families of the deceased in the Buldhana bus accident, and Rs. 50,000 will be given to the injured.”

Additionally, the state government has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of the victims. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated that a committee of experts will be formed to investigate the reasons behind the frequent accidents on the Samruddhi Expressway.

This heart-wrenching incident occurred just a short distance from the Jambargaon toll booth on the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway, an area known for its history of accidents. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of this unfortunate event, while the families of the victims are left mourning the loss of their loved ones.
