WWE announced that its Elimination Chamber premium live event would be staged at Toronto’s Rogers Centre on March 1, 2025, returning the company to one of Canada’s largest stadiums. The booking gave Toronto a major stop on WWE’s road to WrestleMania and placed a signature multi-competitor event in a venue closely associated with the company’s Canadian history.
What WWE announced
The company confirmed the date and venue on November 8, 2024. Rogers Centre, the downtown home of Major League Baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays, had not hosted a WWE event since WrestleMania X8 in 2002. The stadium also held WrestleMania VI in 1990, making the Elimination Chamber announcement a return to a building with a prominent place in Canadian wrestling.
Elimination Chamber is built around an enclosed steel structure in which several wrestlers enter a match at timed intervals. The format is generally used to shape championship contests and major storylines before WrestleMania. A stadium presentation also allows WWE to sell substantially more tickets than a conventional arena, although the final attendance depends on the seating configuration and production footprint.
Why Toronto was a significant choice
Toronto has long been one of WWE’s strongest international markets. The city has hosted WrestleMania, SummerSlam and numerous television and arena events, while Canadian performers have played central roles in the promotion’s history. Bringing Elimination Chamber to Rogers Centre reflected WWE’s broader strategy of placing major shows outside the United States and treating them as destination events for travelling fans.
The Toronto announcement followed the 2024 Elimination Chamber event in Perth, Australia. WWE described the Rogers Centre show as the second consecutive edition held in an international stadium. That comparison concerned the venue and market strategy; it did not guarantee the same crowd size, production design or economic result.
Tickets, travel and consumer caution
WWE said fans could register for presale information before the public ticket release. For any large event, buyers should rely on the promoter, venue or an authorized ticketing partner and should check whether a displayed price includes service fees. Screenshots, social-media messages and speculative resale listings do not prove that a ticket is valid.
Rogers Centre is beside Union Station and is served by regional rail, subway and streetcar connections. Event-day road closures, security screening and large pedestrian volumes can lengthen arrival times. Visitors requiring accessible seating or other accommodations should confirm arrangements through the venue instead of assuming that a resale listing includes them.
Understanding the original announcement
The announcement established the date, location and historical significance of the event. It did not, by itself, confirm the eventual match card, winners, celebrity appearances or attendance. Wrestling line-ups can change because of story developments, injuries and production decisions, so later promotional claims should be distinguished from the information available when the Toronto date was first revealed.
For Toronto, the selection reinforced the city’s status as a regular host for international sports and entertainment. For WWE, it provided a large Canadian setting for one of the company’s most recognizable annual concepts while reviving a stadium connection that had been dormant for more than two decades.
